One of the key points in this book is knowing what your next action is, or alternatively what/who you are waiting for, on each of your projects. This lets you jump into any project very quickly.
It strikes me that this is rather like the process table of an operating system. A process, after all, has
- a next action, being the current value of the "instruction pointer" register
- a state, such as WAIT (eg waiting for a disk read to complete) or READY (ready to execute)
The upshot of which is that I now have my own personal process table on my office whiteboard. :-)
