The future will not be made of NURBS

homeblogmastodonthingiverse

The prevalence of flat surfaces during the "modern" era, and later the use of simple smooth curves, reflect the limitations of extremely primitive mathematical design tools and fabrication technology. The projection of this into a future composed almost entirely of such primitives is therefore naive. So long as we stick to this idea, the future will remain unimaginable.

The new future looks nothing like science fiction. It will be fantastic. It will be textured. <grin>
